Robin laughed out loud as the juggler added spinning discs to the multi-colored balls he was already tossing into the air. Pat noticed that the man was concentrating more in his efforts to keep the objects aloft but was still sneaking an occasional glance at the opening of the tent; whatever was going to happen next would come from there, Pat was certain. Glancing up Pat was relieved to see that Kelly was in position, lurking there among the shadows and somehow not being seen by any of the other onlookers. They were as ready as they would ever be.

The rocky outcroppings along its grassy edges becoming refuge for those fortunate to escape the coming apocalypse. Panicked creatures of every form rushed through the now whipping vegetation, desperate to escape the wrath of the unknown entity. Cold and fierce, the rain pummeled the earth below.

For years had she trained to learn the art. Though she had no land, her master, the kind Duneer, had noticed her raw talent. He'd adopted her, and she'd become her father's new apprentice.

Now she had a chance to prove herself. Her father feared the king had an assassin in the hall, and she was was to find the killer. She focused on the people present, took a deep breath, and scrutinized everything. She could feel the fabric of her clothing, see the lightest motion, smell all the sweat. Her now-acute sense of smell identified the poisonous herbs.

The portal shimmered like a curtain of water. It hung in the center of his office for only a breath before a lithe and stunning woman stepped through. The door between worlds vanished leaving the two alone. Father Vaselli took in his visitor and frowned when most men would have smirked. The woman was completely naked from the tips of her toes to the tops of her pointed ears.

"Propriety, Serena! This is a church."

The fey smiled. "Easy Dario, I knew you were alone."
