Kirzad looked down upon the thing that had fallen from the sky. It surprised him anything had survived within the dragon's breath, but a giant coal-black stone sat at the center of a scarred depression. He watched in wonder as man-like figures descended from the spiny sky-stone, and then shook with fear as one of them pointed directly at him. |

The shuttle bucked and pitched as it hit the atmosphere. Around the craft, debris from the Endeavor fell like meteoric rain -- the explosion had ripped the larger ship to pieces that would continue to rain on the world for weeks to come. |

Sound buzzed in his ears. Dissonant and rasping -- it was like a swam of insects had taken up residence in his head, but it was still a good sign. The sense of his body came next; a thousand little pinpricks danced across his skin. He tried to twitch a finger or toe, but nothing seemed to happen. Perhaps he'd be luckier with his eyelids. |

The elevator lit up as he stepped inside; he found the panel and flipped the switch. “West-side apartments, district twelve,” the com spoke as the interface powered up. “Enter branch ID.” He quickly punched in D-5, and pressed enter. The elevator jumped into motion and slid down the shaft. He removed his revolver and checked the rounds -- knowing that piece of hardware probably wouldn't be needed. The elevator jolted slightly as it came to a stop on platform D, and whined as it turned to branch five. He reached behind his coat to loosen the latch on his knife as the doors opened. Apartment numbers ticked by until he stopped at 12. The reader acknowledged his skeleton key-card without protest, and he glanced up and down the hallway as the locks disengaged and the door glided open. With a hand on his revolver, he entered the room; the other hand removed a thermal scanner from his pouch. He cased the room as the door closed with a click, and waited for the scanner to power up. Green lights blinked an "all clear;" he was alone and free to go about his business. Contributed by: Josh |
