Jul 2008 Contest - A Short Epic
Written by Nathan
Thursday, 10 July 2008

Since the June Contest went over rather well, we're going to keep it simple again. The genre for this month is high fantasy.

"I understand," Raistlin said calmly.
I wish I did, Tanis thought bitterly. I wish I understood what was going on in that mind of yours, mage.

- Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman

Don't worry about trying to write an epic in 3000 words, let alone craft three novels, just let the words flow and give us a window into an epic world. And it doesn't have to be in a particular style - Tolkien, Feist, Lewis, they've had their time in the sun, just enjoy writing.

Do you hear the clarion call of the horn? It summons you!

Summary:

Format: short story
Genre: high fantasy
Word Count: 1500 to 3000 words
Deadline: August 1st

Judging:

The judges for the contest will be the community. We'll be voting based on creativity and originality. The community will nominate the individual that created the best piece.

If you're interested, please continue reading to see the complete rules and deadline information (August 1st). It's time to gird thyself, the enemy is on the march!
